Experience Joyful Winter Magic at Callanwolde

Known for its original holiday performances rendered in vibrant dance and song, the Callanwolde School of Dance offers families Our Common Joy, a new show for the season that will surprise and motivate as much as it will entertain. Gather in the Callanwolde Amphitheater under December star-lit skies for shows on December 10 and 11 2021, and winter delights like hot Chocolate, mulled wine, and sweet treats. In this magical setting, with a special guest appearance by the Ebenezer Baptist Church Choir, this show will fill every heart with irrepressible and resounding JOY!

This is an all-new show. OUR COMMON JOY features Callanwolde’s signature use of creative nuance, in that it is written in verse—a story that spans the humorous and touching. The show includes a lead actor this year, JR McCall, who portrays notable celebrities and holiday icons, and live singing by the Grammy-winning Ebenezer Gospel Choir of Atlanta of Ebenezer Baptist Church–Senator and Pastor Raphael Warnock’s church.

There are 31 dancers involved and they are the members of the Prime Mover Dance Company of the Callanwolde School of Dance. The chorographers for the show are of distinction, as they are very well established and continue to contribute to dance in Atlanta in significant ways. They are the dream team: Corian Ellisor, Jillian Mitchell, and Jerylann Warner.

COVID-19 protocols: The show is held in our outdoor amphitheater. All attendees must be masked going to and from their seats, attendees can sit in groups. In the case that the performance is moved indoors, masks will be required upon entry into the Callanwolde Mansion and must remain on at all times when not eating and drinking for the duration of time indoors.
